Default If you aren't buying GW:EN...why not?

Since it's a bit pointless to ask "Will you buy GW:EN?" on a GW forum, I will explore the negative argument.

If you aren't buying GW:EN...why not?

It's obvious from my posts that I won't buy GW:EN. (maybe not initially, unless I'm very, very bored, I might buy it just to see how fast I can clear it with 3 SF Heroes...)

Part of it is, of course, I feel ArenaNet is heading down the wrong path. ArenaNet has made some very questionable decisions, and GW:EN appears to be more focused on Titles (5 rep grinds?!) and Minipets (Hall of Monuments, hah!). I'm not vain; I'm practical! If I wanted to grind for something, I'd be playing WoW, in which I actually progress my character through grinding...

The other, and likely more important reason, is that real life beckons. I'll be a high school senior this year, it'll be busy, and I put schoolwork before gaming. Plus, there will be a plethora of console games being released in the same timeframe as GW:EN, including Metroid Prime 3, Mass Effect, and Halo 3.

Please do not invite users, however subtle the wording, to disrupt your own thread. Personal call-out removed.

As to people not buying GWEN: Some people might be pissed about the fact that in order to get the box AND the mission pack, they have to buy GW:EN twice.

I will not buy it the day of release, which of course can be bad in some senses.
First of all, it will probably cost me a lot of money because i will miss out the opportunity to exploit noobs with new shiny objects for a large profit. Also, i will probably be left out of PvP of course just because of probably 7 skills for each class or so which of course will be very overpowered.

And school semester is starting, I don't want to mix my priorities in life.

And also my moral awareness isn't really letting me..when I know I'm somewhat overpaying for the game.

Pretty much the biggest reason is..I would like more changes to happen (especially pvp wise), and just don't have that interest in gw to continue pursuing every move of Anet's.

And to sum it up..yea, pretty much not enough changes to keep me interested atm.

I won't be buying GW:EN because I don't think I should pay money for something that wont really enhance my GW gaming experience, when there are other titles out there providing more enjoyment for a fraction of the price

On topic, I feel anyone not buying GW:EN, shouldn't really have any interest in the GW:EN section of the forums.

Well, they don't neet to pay for it twice, they can still get many things:
- Slots, (almost useless) PvP editions, 1MUpdate, Preorder... eh... nothing else.

But... wait, wait? Could there be a reason not to get it? Seriusly? Really?
Ok... ok... I'll try to think a reason... hm... let's see... I can think of a few reasons:
- No cash.
- No Internet connection.
- Parental punishment.
- Accidental permanents blindness/hand amputation.
- Severe brain damage.
- Stupidity.
- Bad karma.
- War.
- World War.
- Meteor holocaust.
- Apocalypse.
- And the worst: Stubbornness.

I can't think of more.

When Nightfall was out, some of my guildies claimed that there were not enough reasons to get it... after listeing other players about the new content, they neded to get it, and now thay are getting it. Sooner or later, many will get it. Even having reasons currently right now not to get it. Reasons may change.

I'm getting it for sure, though.

I disagree strongly. I peruse Magic the Gathering's boards, as well as watching Super Smash Brothers. I've spent no money on either, have no Wii, and plan on buying neither in the future, but they interest me for various reasons regardless.

Personally, I don't know if I'm going to get GW:EN. I agree that I don't like some of the design decisions Arena Net has made, but I don't think my gameplay has been impacted severely by them. GW:EN would probably still be an enjoyable timesink.
However, this Fall will be my first max credit hours semester I'll have attempted, and it's both expensive and time consuming. GW:EN would be both a time and moneysink I don't think I'm ready to afford just yet.

I have my own criticisms of Anet, but ultimately, I think they've done an overall good job. Just not quite good enough to get me to say, "To heck with it!" and order it anyway. Yet. Perhaps in the future, but at the moment, no.

I'll see what the "sneak peek" is like. I doubt I'll play it for very long even if I do buy it. Bigger and better games are on the way.

I'll just quote what I wrote on GWO.

It depends if I can be arsed to buy it or not.

Besides, I rarely play anyway.
Simple. Nothing more to add to it I reckon.

I think Guild Wars is headed in the absolute right path. I think GWEN is what should have come out two years after the orginal. I said elsewhere.. it was cool of Anet to try something different with the stand alone chapters but it really wasn't working out. I'm really looking forward to this and to GW2 because i'm sure for Guild Wars 2 they will only release expansions instead of the stand alones so...

I'm totally buying it. Can't wait! The dungeons look great also with having more interactive elements and finding a map of and keys to unlock doors.. i totally dig that.

Well I can give ye a reason why I'm not buying GW:EN now...

... Get ready

... This is epic!

... Because I already did!

Yep I got it pre-ordered!

Those of you who arent going to be buying it, I wish you all good luck in whatever else you are doing. You're actauly making a wise choice if you are planning to wait and possibly reconsider, as long as you arent in the market.

You shall be missed!

Ever thought some people are unsure whether they want to buy it or not, so they come on the GWEN forum to check out other peoples opinions?

Just because a person is not purchasing it doesn't mean they don't have an interest in it.

I bought WoW not more then 24 hours ago.
I just got bored of GW and needed something besides "Reach level 20. Make another Character or go for titles or Hard Mode or farm" (That and the 3,600 hours I put in-1 year)

So as Malice said, I'll check out the preview weekend (Before the GW servers crash to a hault -- Not too far fetched, eh?) before deciding on GWEN.

To be honest, the more I hear about it, the less excited I get.
Nothing I have heard has made me say "OMGZ MUST GET IT!"

Usually the people who don't want to purchase it are here to flame or criticize. You'll find them in just about every popular GW:EN thread, someone with a negative out look who just wants to cause a ruckus because for some personal reason they will not or cannot obtain GW:EN. So what do they do? Share their opinion with others who have the exact opposite outlook as them. This is from personal experiences of course, and yes I'm being single minded about this, and no what ever you have to reply to me with isn't wrong. I'm well aware that, that is a generalization, but here on Guru thats really all that everything is made up of.

There are a few folks going to school and going to be seniors and will get the Big Cupon that says your smart enough to pass high school (I am one of them). Even though I will be a senior and going to have a job most likely, I will definately be Getting GW:EN and won't let being a senior and job be a excuse to not buy a game. I really like the direction Anet went on GW and the exploreing/costomization/midevil RPGs. I am not going to push gameing aside its my hobby. On that note I will find time to play.

P.S. I know this is a topic for "Why won't you be getting GW:EN" but closest topic I found (without starting my own) to tell folks bout my reasons and stuff...

All I'm trying to say is just because someone isn't purchasing it doesn't mean they aren't interested, and although many people may flame/critisize because they are not getting GWEN, there are still people who aren't getting it and not flaming, but coming onto this forum because they are interested.

Several reasons really:

The biggest though is that I do not trust Anet anymore. From marketing spin, fuzzy math, improvements that are terrible and force fed as "better" and so on. Ugh.
The game has become miles less fun than it used to be, each and every battle feels like a poorly done bot match with Quake (the first one) like AI. HM is uncreative at best, upping mob stats is so boring to play against. bleh... Loot scaling and so on...

I could go on and on, but I'll not bother. It all comes down to Anet vs other developers at this point. I trust the others to entertain me for my money, and upon release of GWEN, there are many other games that have my eye.

I simply know I will enjoy the other games without question; yet here I am, wondering and having to research whether or not to buy GWEN... says something about my consumer trust I think.

PS: Also what Bryant Again has stated; that's just farged up. If I were to purchase the game for the tangible item, I should be able to get the so called Bonus missions just the same as everyone else... again and just another thing that shakes my confidence in Anet. Twisted and manipulative marketing. My opinion of course.
